Over 200,000 Burmese Migrant Workers currently work as low-wage day labourers in Chiang Mai’s construction, agriculture, manufacturing and food processing industries. Although their goal is to send their remittances to their families in Myanmar (often as low as 2500 bahts - or 75 USD - per month), much of it is spent on subsistence.
