Guiyu (e-waste city)

Known as the “electronic graveyard of the world”, Guiyu was China’s largest e-waste site, with an estimated 150,000 workers illegally processing over 100 truckloads of electronics a day. The pollution generated by the industry was so severe that crops are still unable to grow in the area. In December 2016, the workers were moved to a nearby government-controlled industrial site.
